Multiple Charges

After learning that police held three warrants for his arrest, John Dosky, 22, of 15 Jeremiah Road went to the police station on the morning of March 19 to surrender, police said.

Police arrested Dosky on three separate counts of second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with six past motor vehicle charges that stem from three separate incidents in 2014 in Newtown and Danbury.

Last August 15 in Danbury, police charged Dosky with driving under suspension and with failure to renew an automotive registration. Last July 12 in Newtown, police charged Dosky with driving under suspension and with failure to display marker plates. Last May 23 in Newtown, police charged Dosky with driving under suspension and with traveling unreasonably fast.

Following arrest processing on March 19, police released Dosky from custody on $1,500 bail overall for an April 2 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Warrant

Police report they executed a warrant against a Brookfield man on the morning of March 22 in connection with a one-car accident that occurred last July 20 on Hawleyville Road in Hawleyville.

Police said they charged Robert Pallo, 62, with driving under the influence.

At about 2:30 am last July 20, police received a call reporting that a vehicle had driven off the road and gone down an embankment alongside Hawleyville Road, near the Brookfield town line.

After arriving at the scene, police found that Pallo, who had been driving a 1991 Chevrolet Corvette coupe, was trapped inside the sports car amid trees and brush on an embankment on residential property. There were no passengers.

Hawleyville firefighters got access to the auto, which was positioned on difficult terrain, via an adjacent driveway.

Firefighters used a hydraulic tool to open the driver’s door of the auto and free Pallo from the wreckage. After being removed from the auto, Pallo was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, according to police. Pallo was treated and released.

On March 22, police released Pallo on $100 bail for an April 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Road Rage

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Gary Konitshek, 27, of 4 Bobcat Lane, turned himself over to police at the police station on March 21 and was charged in connection with a recent road rage incident, police said.

Police said they charged Konitshek with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief.

Police report that on February 3, at the intersection of Taunton Lane and Taunton Hill Road, Konitshek got out of his vehicle and approached the driver of another vehicle to complain about that male driver’s behavior on the road.

Konitshek then allegedly broke open the window glass in the driver’s door, causing minor injuries to that driver, police said.

On March 21, police released Konitshek on $500 bail for an April 7 court appearance.

I-84 DUI

State police report that they received reports about 1:49 am on March 19, that a white Subaru Forester was being driven erratically on westbound Interstate 84, so they investigated.

State police said they found the Subaru in question parked along the Exit 10 off-ramp with its engine running and its driver asleep inside the vehicle.

State police said that after investigating, they charged motorist Ian LeVasseur, 36, with driving under the influence and with improper parking.

State police said they held LeVasseur on $1,000 bail for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court. LeVasseur pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is scheduled to return to court on April 9.

Three-Vehicle Accident

A three-vehicle accident occurred in snowy conditions about 3 pm on March 20 on eastbound Interstate 84, just east of the Exit 9 on-ramp, according to state police.

State police said that motorist Jeffrey Zareski, 44, of Oxford, who was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion, was slowing for traffic conditions, and motorist Daniel McNamara, 58, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2010 Cooper Mini auto, was slowing behind the Ford.

Motorist Phillip Palama, 27, of Ansonia, who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, struck the rear end of the Cooper, pushing the Cooper into the rear end of the Ford, state police said.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Hawleyville Crash

State police said that motorist Rebecca Hawley, 25, of Woodbury was driving a 2005 Ford Focus on eastbound Interstate 84 in the vicinity of the Exit 9 interchange at about 10 pm on March 17, when the auto struck a large metal object that was lying on the roadway.

State police said the object apparently had fallen off some unknown flatbed truck.

There were no injuries. State police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2240.

Seven Charges

Police report that on the morning of March 23 at Danbury Superior Court, they arrested Aaron Cooper, 28, of Danbury on four warrants, which listed a total seven charges against him.

Police charged Cooper with six counts of sixth-degree larceny and one count of second-degree failure to appear in court. The charges stem from multiple incidents in which Cooper allegedly stole small valuable items from the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street, police said. The items stolen included dental whitening strips and shaving razors, whose aggregate value was several hundred dollars, police said.

Cooper, who has been in the custody of the state Department of Correction since February 26, was arraigned on the seven charges on March 23 in Danbury Superior Court. He is scheduled to return to that court on April 22.

Cooper was being held on $24,500 bail on March 24 in the New Haven Correctional Center on various pending criminal charges in several jurisdictions.

Hopewell Road

Motorist Jacob Eventoff, 21, of 54 Sugar Lane was driving a 2014 Mazda 6 sedan northward on Hopewell Road near the Redding/Newtown town line about 3:05 pm on March 20 during snowy conditions, when he lost control of the auto on the slippery road and crossed over into the southbound lane, after which he struck a large rock along the left road shoulder, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Eventoff for traveling too fast for conditions.

Truck Vs Flagpole

Police report that motorist Timothy Neff, 52, of Fairfield was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck westward on Church Hill Road about 5:28 pm on March 13, and then stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Main Street.

Neff then attempted to turn left to enter southbound South Main Street, but drove into the Main Street flagpole, police said.

There were no injuries. Neff received a written warning for making a restricted turn, according to police.

Audi Vs Lincoln

At about 3:17 pm on March 19, motorist Paula Stephan, 88, of 65 Elizabeth Circle, who was driving a 2011 Audi A-4 sedan, was entering a parking space at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, but struck a parked, unoccupied 1997 Lincoln Town Car sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Truck Vs Trees

Police said motorist Mark Barre, Jr, 35, of Shelton was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck northward on Toddy Hill Road, just north of its intersection with Turkey Roost Road, at about 10:30 am on March 21, when Barre swerved to avoid a hazard in the southbound lane, but then skidded on wet pavement and entered the southbound lane before going off the left side of the street and striking two trees.

Barre was not injured. Police said they verbally warned Barre for traveling too fast for conditions.

Serious Charges

Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Kenneth Dell, 49, of 2 Shepaug Road went to the police station midday on March 25 and was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred last December 19.

Police said they arrested Dell on charges of second-degree assault with motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving under the influence, using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, and failure to keep to the right on a curve.

Details on the incident which resulted in the charges were not immediately available from police. Police said they released Dell on $2,500 bail for a April 8 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

Newtown Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters responded to the northern end of Ram Pasture at about noon on March 24, following a one-car accident there. Police said motorist Jean Klein, 89, of 3 Budd Drive was driving a 2010 Volvo S-80 sedan eastward on Sugar Street, when she spotted some vehicles which had stopped in front of her, so she swerved to the right to avoid a collision, but in doing so she inadvertently went off the right side of the road and then entered the Ram Pasture, coming to rest alongside a stream. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps staff checked Klein at the scene, police said. Police said they issued Klein an infraction for making a restricted turn.
