The paper has been selected by the society as an outstanding 2008 published paper demonstrating an application of risk assessment. Dr Ginsberg, along with four others, looked at how children may be more susceptible to inhaled toxicants than adults due to their lower body weight and lung surface area and how existing models on inhaled toxicants for adults could be adapted for children.

The paper summarizes a series of presentations given at a US Environmental Protection Agency’s Workshop on Inhalation Risk Assessment in Children held in June 2006. The paper was published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health on January 1, 2008.

Dr Ginsberg has been employed by the DPH for 14 years in the Environmental and Occupational Health Assessment Program. In addition to working at DPH, Dr Ginsberg is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut School of Community Medicine and an adjunct faculty member at Yale University.
