Head Oâ Meadow Second Graders Give Musical A Whack
By Eliza Hallabeck
âThe strangest zoo you ever knew was in the town of Wackadoo,â second grade students at Head Oâ Meadow Elementary School said from the schoolâs stage in the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 18.
The students played lions, cows, pigs, and other animals that were unable to produce the sounds for which they are best known. The students were under the direction of Head Oâ Meadow music teacher Julie Bastos.
âThough we may look like lordly lions,â the students playing lions said in the play, âthe kind you see at any zooâ¦when we wake youâll hear us say cock-a-doodle-doo.â
Wackadoo Zoo, a musical, tells the story of what happens when a professor comes to try to teach the animals to start making their correct sounds.
After many attempts with the different animals, and the explanation that âpractice makes perfect,â the professor gives up. The animals in the Wackadoo Zoo can not change their habits.
âWe were so happy before you came,â said the animals to the professor in the play. âWhy donât you leave on the very next train?â
The crowd was filled by family and friends for the second show of the musical on Wednesday, and much laughter could be heard as the crowd listened to the animalsâ story.
