Completely Out Of Touch

To the Editor:

I reject that the Legislative Council finance committee refuses to use several million dollars more of the “Rainy Day Fund” to increase funding for the education budget. What is your definition of a rainy day?

I am appalled that the debt service budget includes interest payments for a $3 million capital project that was never approved by the town.

I am amazed that the Legislative Council members appear to be completely out of touch with the people and the spirit of Newtown and demonstrate a complete disregard for their needs and their financial hardship.

I am one of the thousands of Newtown voters who will vote against the budget as proposed because it is a document that blatantly disregards the needs and the will of the people of Newtown.

We are a democracy. We expect our leaders to listen and to respond to us.

Shame on you!
