Bethel Gymnasium To Be Named In Honor Of Newtown’s Swanson

Bethel High School’s gymnasium will be named in honor of Newtown resident and former Bethel High Athletic Director William Swanson. The dedication will be held as part of a ceremony on Friday, April 3 at 6:30 pm.

Swanson, a 50-year Newtown resident, was Bethel’s athletic director for four decades from the middle 1950s through ’90s.

He also founded and coached Bethel High School’s football team. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
