She attended school in Fitchburg, Mass., and Deerfield Beach, Fla., and graduated in 1976 from Deerfield Beach High School. Ms Hedrick was continuing her education into drug and alcohol rehabilitation at Naugatuck Community College.
Her husband, Stephen Hedrick of Newtown; her children, Matthew Bach and his wife Lauren of Summit, N.J., Adam Hedrick of Newtown, and Trevor Routhier Hedrick of Newtown; her grandchildren, Summer and David of Summit; her father, Robert Proulx and stepmother Terri Proulx of Gainesville, Fla.; her brothers and their spouses, Joseph and Debra Proulx of Suwanee, Ga., Bob Proulx and Laura Borselli of Boynton Beach, Fla., Russell and Karen Proulx of Boca Raton, Fla., David and Noreen Proulx of Danbury, and Troy and Beth Proulx of Boise, Idaho, and their families survive her. She also has many surviving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her mother, Lorraine O. Rheault Proulx; and her son Justin David Bach, who died in 2008 after a courageous fight with cancer, predeceased her.
Ms Hedrick worked for many years at Grolier in Danbury before she left to do volunteer work and be a homemaker. She volunteered for years at St Mary's Catholic Church in Bethel and later at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown. Ms Hedrick also volunteered as an assistant to the kindergarten teachers in the Danbury School system, at FAITH Food Pantry, and at Dorothy Day among others. She had helped with landscaping for years at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Her real and abiding passions were her family and friends. Ms Hedrick loved spending time with her granddaughter, Summer, at her son Matt's home. She had many passionate pastimes, including playing golf, bridge with the Newtown Bridge Club, card games and Scrabble with her family, giving tarot card readings, and working in her flower garden at home. Ms Hedrick loved that she was able to learn the art of Shamballa Reiki from her aunt in Massachusetts. Ms Hedrick was known for her heart of gold and will certainly be missed by everyone that knew her.
After her son Justin died, she felt the need to help children in need and joined the Connecticut State fostering program with her husband. They provided fostering to many wonderful kids and felt they were blessed when Trevor came in to their lives. It was like Trevor had always been part of the family, and he was adopted in 2014. Ms Hedrick gave Trevor a new outlook on life that he will carry with him forever.
