Impugning One Of Newtown's Best
Impugning One Of Newtownâs Best
To the Editor:
I would like to thank Mr Burton for last weekâs letter to The Bee informing us of the following: Lillian Bittman, knowing full well the power she wields, but lacking the conceptual impact of her position as school board chair, casually looks to incite the wrath of one group toward another.
Lillian Bittman is now intentionally inserting the word âcrucifyâ as a metaphor in her conversations in order to offend Christians at a particularly sensitive time in their religious calendar.
Lillian Bittman, having worked tirelessly on various boards, committees, and school projects, obviously has no clue of the sacrifices made by the good citizens of Newtown that donate their time so selflessly to the running of our local government and school board.
Your didactic on the workings of our local government as well as the fine job our Board of Finance has done, and is doing, is no doubt a wake-up call to Ms Bittman, and I personally would like to commend you for pointing this out to her, allegedly made an innocuous remark of how one group, PTA, might react to a decision that is at odds with their interests, you feel itâs your duty to indict said group, with a statement of âif some members are intent on.â Thanks for that.
Perhaps Mr Burton and others could form a commission. They might call it âThe committee to monitor alleged remarks of volunteers that could be construed through a jaundiced eye as insensitive.â I will leave it to others, especially those who have enough time to write letters to The Bee impugning one of Newtownâs best, to work out the title so that we can get an acronym that doesnât offend anyone.
Sincerely,
James Swift
