Grade 4

Fire Dragons  22, Bullsharks  22: Jack Vaughan and Adam Wolff combined for 14 points for the  Fire Dragons. Ryan Escoda had 3 assists while Rhett Saunders had 4 steals and Robert Murray had 7 rebounds. For the Bullsharks, Timmy Shaw and Ryan Mailloux combined for 4 points while Shane Maskel had 3 assists, Ian Klepacki had 5 steals and  Jamie Hobar had 7 rebounds.   

Thrill 31, Dark Knights 25: Joshua Dunn and Eric Vigneau  combined for 23 points for the Thrill. Ian Shull had 3 assists, David Daria had an outstanding game on defense with 5 steals and Ethan Aug had 8 rebounds. For the Knights, Dyan Champagne, Chris Daubert, and Doug Carriero had 6 points each. Cameron Champagne had 5 steals, Tom Coppinger had 4 assists, and Kevin Reiss had 6 rebounds.

 Panthers 26, Huskies 23: The Panthers were led on offense by Silas Decker and Christian Adam who combined for 18 points. Nick Harper had 5 assists, Eugene Citrano had 5 steals, and Jack Bittman had 6 rebounds. For the Huskies, Adam Farley and Cameron MacDonald combined for 11 points with MacDonald scoring a clutch basket late in the game. Owen Walsh had 4 assists, Nate Jones led the defense with 4 steals, and Alex Street had 7 rebounds.

Grade 5

The Green Monster 27, Destiny 17: Henry Primavera had 15 points, Marc LaSorsa had 6, Paul Whitaker scored 3, Jacob Steinebrey 2, and Austin DeSousa 1. Destiny lost the semifinals against the 11-1 Green Monsters. Owen McInerney scored eight points and dominated along with fellow All-Star Dylan Kretz, who had 4 points and 8 assists. Thomas Leuci and Brandon Pavlicek’s rebounding efforts led the defense. David Usher had 5 steals, Thomas Addessi dribbled up the court in control and had 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Ryan Brello, who ripped the ball out of the hands of the opponents, played great defense along with Patrick Flynn.

Lightning 32-March, Madness 26: The Lightning and March Madness battled in the 5th grade semifinals. The electric yellow squad got off to a strong start led by the dynamic duo of RH Clark (8 points, 6 rebounds) and Steven Moccio (6 points, 3 assists, and 3 blocked shots). Supporting role players Matthew Frazetta and Joey Conrod combined for 6 points and 5 boards to extend the lead to 10 in the second period. Kevin Arther and Michael Liberante played strong games of their own, combining for 8 points, 6 boards, and 3 blocked shots. Alex Hess in an outstanding effort with a bucket, 3 steals, and 2 key rebounds to help the bolts maintain their edge throughout the game. Bradley Wiseman,  Philip Coffey, and Jacob Anastasi applied constant defensive pressure rounding out another superior Lightning team effort. The Lightning move on to the 5th grade championship game against the Green Monsters on Saturday, March 27, at 11:30 am at the Newtown High School gym. March Madness had a solid game from Nicholas Venezia scoring 2 points, Connery Meyer bringing home 12 points, Chad Azzarito dropping in another 6, Taylor Koonz tapping in 2, and Elliot Bennett finishing up with 4 points. 

Grade 6

Huskies 46, Celtics 42: The Huskies played exceptional defense to put them out front at the end of the game. The Huskies’ Declan Sullivan put up 17 points to lead his team with Charlie Fletcher adding 8 points. Gordon Walsh led the team with 6 assists. Andrew Ross used his speed in transition to help offset the Celtics’ fast break offense. For the Celtics, Jack Procaccini and Jake Oliger each scored 9 points to lead their team with Max Weber adding 8 points. James Carney led the team with 6 assists. 

Thunder 32, Wolfpack 26: This game was a defensive battle from start to finish. It was close going into the closing minutes with the Thunder winning it at the foul line. Christian Thanasoulis had 21 points to lead the Thunder and Bryan Kiley added 9 points. Thomas Gavel led the team with 7 assists. For the Wolfpack James Buck and Sam Czel each scored 6 points to lead their team with Michael O’Keefe and Nick Rohrbacher each adding 4 points. Daniel McCarthy led the team with 5 assists.

The Grade 6 boys’ championship game will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 10:15 am at Reed School. The Thunder came into the playoffs as the No. 1 and the Huskies came into the playoffs as the No. 6 seed. The Thunder leads the series against the Huskies winning two of three regular-season games. Two of those games came down to the last second with each team winning by a point.

Grades 7-8

Bricklayers 45, Eagles 44: For the Bricklayers, Pat Afriyie and Nate Steinebrey were the high scorers with 18 and 10 respectively. Brendon Scott was the defensive star. For the Eagles, Julian Dunn was the high scorer with 19 points. Joey Santella was the assist leader, Zach Bergeron the defensive star and Bobby Lydon the rebound leader.

Cavs 46, Thunder 33: For the Cavs, Nick Norberg was the high scorer with 15 points. Richard LaPak was the assist leader and William Swain the defensive star. Drew Tarantino scored 11, Graham Hubbert contributed 8, and Tommy Catalina had 6 for a well-rounded offense. For the Thunder, Nick Lotrecchiano was the high scorer with 14 points. Grant Ricketts was the assist leader, Doug Miller the defensive star, and Zach Weiland the rebound leader.
