Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Mobile Home Fire

Firefighters from all five local volunteer fire companies were alerted of a structure fire at a residence at 117 Huntingtown Road at about 5:03 pm Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Botsford Fire Rescue Company Chief Wayne Ciaccia said that on arriving at the mobile home, which is set well back from the street, firefighters spotted smoke and fire extending from the eaves of one section of the structure.
Firefighters used a pressurized-water fire extinguisher to put out the small fire, he said. Firefighters decided against using water from a fire hose to extinguish the blaze because such an approach might have caused too much damage to the residenceâs interior, he said. There were no injuries.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters took apart adjacent sections of the structure to check on whether the fire had extended into other areas of the building, he said. Most fire damage occurred to the buildingâs exterior, Chief Ciaccia said.
All personnel responding to the fire arrived quickly, thus preventing the fire from spreading, he said.
The residence is adjacent to the Congregation Adath Israel synagogue.
Deputy Fire Marshal Rich Frampton investigated the cause of the blaze at the Booth residence, where three people live.
That probe turned up no apparent cause of the fire, which is considered to be accidental and undetermined in origin, he said. The fire caused an estimated $3,500 in property damage, he added. The fire covered an area of approximately 10 square feet.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the people who live at the residence were putting water on the fire, he said. Â
Members of the Booth family were not in the building when the fire was reported, Mr Frampton said. A person who was at the adjacent synagogue reported the blaze, he said.
The structure remains habitable, Mr Frampton said.
