NORWALK — Members of Newtown Winter Guard’s Varsity and Junior Varsity teams extended their first place streak with another pair of top finishes at Norwalk High School on March 19.

The JV team earned a 77.65 with its presentation of “A Bug’s Life,” while the Varsity squad raised its score to 81.25.

The Varsity team’s show, “The Joy of Painting,” takes spectators on an exploration of creativity, narrated by the quirky and iconic painter Bob Ross, and punctuated with colorful flag spins and solid rifle and sabre tosses.

Throughout the season, the show continues to evolve with new artistic and athletic elements as the team prepares for the April 2, Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Championships, which will be hosted at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road. The event will draw between 30 and 40 teams from around the region.

Tickets are now available for purchase for the two-part MAC Championships. Shows are at 3 pm and 6:15 pm. Until 3 pm on March 26 tickets cost $13 for adults and $10 for students/seniors, after 4 pm on March 26 tickets cost $17 for adults and $10 for students/seniors, due to MAC pricing policy. Tickets can only be purchased online. To purchase tickets go to gofan.co/app/school/CT20032.
