Lyle S. Furze

Proprietor Of Furze & Ackley Opticians

Lyle S. Furze, 87, of Trumbull, died March 21, at his home. Mr Furze was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and was a longtime Trumbull resident. He was the proprietor and partner of Furze & Ackley Opticians.

Survivors include his brother Frank E. Furze, Jr, of Newtown; three children and their spouses, Barbara F. and Rick Johnson, Judy F. and Frank Misiewicz, and Richard H. and Kathryn Furze; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Kresge Furze.

Mr Furze was very active in the Monroe community, serving as past president of the Connecticut Opticians Association, Westfair Organ Club, and Trumbull Lions Club. He was also on the administrative board at Golden Hill United Methodist Church and an active member of The Connecticut Valley Theatre Organ Society. Mr Furze was a Sea Scout, and had earned the Quarter Master Award.

He was committed to his family and his church. His passions were playing the organ and helping others. He was truly a gentleman, and he never met anyone who did not become a friend.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 26, at 11 am, at Golden Hill United Methodist Church, 210 Elm Street in Bridgeport. The Reverend Taka Ishii will officiate. Reception to follow in the church hall. Inurnment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
