Alcohol Violations
About 10:52 am on March 16, school officials contacted police to inform them that some students at Newtown High School were possibly under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Police said an investigation found that two male students possessed alcohol inside their backpacks.
Police said they issued $136 infraction tickets for possession of alcohol by a minor to Michael Hubbard, 18, of 137 Head Oâ Meadow Road, and also to an unidentified 17-year old male student. Police did not disclose that boyâs identity because he is under age 18.
Such infractions are payable by mail or may be appealed in court.
Church Hill Road
Police report that while on patrol at about 2 am on March 12, they spotted motorist Karla Beach, 31, of Southbury drive past a red traffic signal near 66 Church Hill Road in a 2000 Saturn auto without stopping for the signal, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police said they charged Beach with a traffic signal violation, driving with a suspended license, and with failure to renew a vehicle registration.
Police released Beach on a written promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 24.
DUI Incident
Police report that they stopped motorist Kathleen Holick, 44, of 44 Black Bridge Road for driving fast on Main Street at about 12:51 am on March 18.
After investigating, police said they charged Holick with driving under the influence and with traveling too fast.
Police released Holick from custody on $100 bail for an April 5 court appearance.
Elm Drive
Police report that they stopped motorist Kathryn Medeiros, 31, of 181 Sugar Street for traveling fast on Elm Drive, near its intersection with Deep Brook Road, at about 3:05 pm on March 16.
Police said they investigated and charged Medeiros with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.
Medeiros was released on a written promise to appear in court on April 5.
MV Charges
Police said they received a report at about 3:25 am on March 20 informing them that a motor vehicle accident had occurred on Old Green Road, so they investigated.
Police said that after learning of their investigation into the accident, Anthony Santella, 24 of 12 Yearling Lane went to the police station at about 1:30 pm that day. Police allege that an unspecified vehicle that Santella was driving struck two utility poles and then left the scene of the collisions.
Police said they charged Santella with reckless driving and with evading responsibility.
Santella was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court on April 5, police said.
DUI Arrest
At about 5:20 pm on March 18, police received a report that a motorist was driving erratically in the Taunton Hill Road area, so they went there to investigate.
Police said they located the reported vehicle as it was pulling into a driveway on Boulder Creek Road, which is a dead end street extending from Taunton Hill Road.
After an investigation, police said they charged motorist Barbara Daniele, 54, of Seymour with driving under the influence.
Police said they released Daniele on $200 bail for a March 31 court appearance.
On her release from Newtown policeâs custody, Seymour police took Daniele into custody and lodged charges against her in connection with a motor vehicle accident that had occurred earlier that day in Seymour, according to Newtown police.
Gopher Road
At some time between noon and 1:30 pm on March 18, a burglary occurred at a house on Gopher Road, which resulted in damage to the property, police said. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Vandalism
Sometime between midnight and 6 am on March 19, someone vandalized curbside residential mailboxes at #3 and #41 Horseshoe Ridge Road, according to police. Anyone with information on the criminal mischief is asked to contact investigating Officer Scott Smith at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Rear-Ender
About 4:27 pm on March 17, motorist Christopher Koreiwo, 28, of Seymour was driving a 2008 Hyundai Sonata sedan eastward on Wasserman Way, near Berkshire Road, when Koreiwo stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Hyundai was struck from behind by an eastbound 1995 Buick LeSabre sedan driven by John Bonacci, 23, of 6 Founders Lane, police report.
There were no injuries. Bonacci received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.
Main Street
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Main Street, near its intersection with Church Hill Road, on March 18.
Motorist Janis Sajovic, 62, of 9 Susan Lane, who was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible, was traveling southward on Main Street, when the Chrysler collided with a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300 sedan driven by Caroline Lawrence, 17, of 34 Head Oâ Meadow Road, after which Sajovic left the scene of the accident, police said.
Lawrence reported back pain due to the collision, police said.
Police said they later found Sajovic and charged her with evading responsibility and with failure to grant the right of way.
Unsafe Backing
About 11:12 am on March 19, motorist Brian Engel, 35, of 84 Berkshire Road was driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan eastward on Button Shop Road, as motorist Jennifer Cain, 23, of 32 Button Shop Road was backing a 2008 Scion TC coupe out of the driveway at that address, police report.
There two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Cain a written warning for unsafe backing.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle accident occurred near 315 South Main Street at about 4 pm March 18. All three vehicles were headed southward when the incident occurred.
Motorist Stephanie Garcia, 23, of Monroe, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla sedan, stopped for traffic conditions, after which a 1998 Ford Taurus sedan driven by Susan Creaturo, 56, of 332 South Main Street, stopped behind the Toyota, police said.
A 2006 commercial Mitsubishi box truck driven by Fernando Marcias, 29, of Danbury, then struck the rear end of the Ford, pushing the Ford into the rear end of the Toyota, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Marcias an infraction for following too closely and for driving without a license.
Bus Accident
State police report that at about 3 pm on March 20, Solomon Lazar, 35, of Hamburg, Penn., who was driving a 1995 MCI bus carrying 26 passengers, was attempting to exit the commuter parking lot at Wasserman Way, but in doing so, the bus struck an unoccupied 2003 Honda Civic that was parked in the parking lot.
There were no injuries. The bus is owned by Blue Mountain Academy of Hamburg, Penn., which is a religious school. Enforcement information was not available.
Interstate Crash
At about 8 am on March 15, motorist Debie Hoivik, 44, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan, was traveling westward on Interstate 84, near the Exit 11 on-ramp, when she stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by westbound motorist Francis Angel, 34, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue SUV, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Moving Violations
Police said they stopped motorist Charles Parsons, 42, of 10 Grace Moore Road about 8:22 pm on March 21 on Washington Avenue to investigate.
Police said they charged Parsons with having a defective headlamp, driving with a suspended license, and failure to return a suspended license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Police released Parsons on a written promise to appear in court on April 5.
Marijuana Arrest
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a male youth under age 18 turned himself over to police at the police station about 7:45 pm on March 22 and was charged with a drug offense, police said.
Police said they arrested the unidentified boy on a charge of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana in connection with an incident that occurred at Newtown High School on February 25.
Police did not disclose the boyâs name, as state law shields the identities of people under 18 who are charged with crimes.
 After arrest processing, police released the boy on a written promise to appear on March 28 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.
Mini-Cooper Vs Deer
Motorist Isaac Rosario, 34, of New Haven was driving a 2003 two-door Mini-Cooper auto westward on Berkshire Road, near Fir Tree Lane, about 9 pm on March 22, when a deer ran across the street in front of the vehicle, police said.
The auto and the deer collided. Rosario was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
DUI Arrest
About 9:18 pm on March 23, police stopped motorist Alex Lopez, 36, of Danbury on Wasserman Way to investigate.
Police said they charged Lopez with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving without a license.
Police said they held Lopez on $500 bail for a March 24 court arraignment on the charges.
DUI Incident
Police said that motorist Hunter Fein, 24, of Pennsylvania was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan near 80 Taunton Lake Road about 1 am on March 24, when the vehicle went out of control and struck a rock.
After investigating, police said they charged Fein with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right on a curve.
Police held Fein on $200 bail for a court arraignment on the charges later that day.
