Walsh defeated The Gym At Newtown, 69-56, while Newtown Mobil dropped Colorgraphics, 62-49 and will move on to the semifinals with Walsh squaring off against Alpine Realty and Mobil battling Denmoâs next Tuesday.
In the first game, Walsh was propelled by the 29-point, 13-rebound effort of Lisa Schrang. Joanne Duncanson dropped in 18 points and grabbed 13 boards while Valerie Light chipped in with 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals. Doris Ratner added six points as Barbara Bieber had two blocks and a rebound.
The Gym was led by Janet Duffey, who canned 15 points on the night. Jennifer Thomas added a 13-point, 15-rebound effort as Carolyn Sinorelli scored 12 points with eight rebounds and three steals. Carolyn Schrieber and Mel Darrah combined for 14 points.
In the second game, Amy Proulx popped in a trio of three-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead Mobil to the win. Lynn Lattanzio had 18 points and 17 rebounds while Karen Katrinak chipped in with 10 points, eight rebound and four blocks. Kelly Pinckney and Kathy Blewett combined for 13 points.
For Colorgraphics, Michelle Smith popped in 15 points with four rebounds and Colleen Ruiz added 14 points and seven rebounds. Denise Passano chipped in with 11 points, including her first-ever three-point basket. Karen Powell added eight points and seven boards as Peg Bowers anchored the defense.
