Richard Albert Dean, 72, of Roseland, Fla., formerly of Sandy hook, died February 27 at his residence.
Mr Dean was born on March 10, 1932, in Sandy Hook and moved to Roseland in 1990.
Prior to retirement he worked for Curtis Packing and also Sandy Hook Automotive. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict with the Army Airborne 187 Regimental Combat team. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Past Commander of Post 10210, a member of the Moose in Micco, Fla., and the Sandy Hook Athletic League.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Dean of Roseland, Fla.; four daughters, Lisa Simoes of Sandy Hook, Donna Dean of Wolcott, Doreen Dean of Oxford, and Sharon LeDuc of Wolcott; two sons, Richard Dean and Kenneth Dean both of Hartford; two stepdaughters, Lydia Goldrabit of Lebanon and Darlene Colon of Danbury; one brother, Robert Dean of Hawleyville; a sister, Ruth Hensel of Newtown; and his cousin George Hanlon of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; nine grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Dean, a granddaughter, Manisa Simoes, and four brothers, Walter, Wilber, Charles, and William Dean.
A memorial service was held March 14 at The VFW Post 10210, Sebastian, Fla. Further services will be held at a later date at The VFW Post 308 in Newtown with interment in Lake Zoar Cemetery in Sandy Hook.
