Recht Inducted Into Honor Society

Brian Recht, son of Richard and Carol Recht of Tunnel Road, was recently inducted into the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry’s Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society for the Class of 2005. The 11 students so honored were recognized by their peers as having exemplary humanistic qualities in their care of and interactions with their patients.

Mr Recht was also selected to receive a scholarship from the medical school’s Charles R. Barber Scholarship Fund. The award recognized not only financial need, but also “personal qualities and academic promise which merit special consideration for funds which are restricted to particularly deserving students.”

A 1982 graduate of Newtown High School, Mr Recht received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rochester in 1986. Licensed by the state of California as a professional engineer, he had worked in the field of alternative energy in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia until 1998 when he left his job in Waitsfield, Vt., to pursue a career in medicine.

Mr Recht has been matched to a three-year residency in family medicine. He is scheduled to graduate with his MD degree on May 13.
