*Recent Grammy winners VELVET REVOLVER are bringing their âElectric Wonderland Showâ to The Arena at Harbor Yard on Monday, May 2. Hoobastank will be opening. Tickets for that show will be going on sale this weekend â Saturday, March 25.
Tickets are $39.50 for general admission floor seating; higher priced arena bowls and special packages will also be available.
Tickets will be available from the arenaâs box office at 600 Main Street in Bridgeport, and all TicketMaster vendors online, charge-by-phone or in stores.
*Fairfield Universityâs Quick Center for Performing Arts will host a pair of special concerts on May 7 that will celebrate the lives of Tim and Kim Donnelly, the Fairfield residents who were murdered in their jewelry store in February, while raising funds for a scholarship to be established in their name.
âWith A Little Help From Our Friends: A Concert Celebration to Benefit The Kim & Tim Donnelly Music Scholarshipâ will include performances by the legendary Allman Brothers drummer JAMOIE with the FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY JAZZ ENSEMBLE, FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA, Eric Donnellyâs band THE ALTERNATE ROUTES and the local band PROPHETS OF FUNK. Members of the universityâs music faculty are also planning to perform.
The concert is planned for Saturday, May 7, with performances at 7 and 9:30 pm. The groups will put on two separate but identical performances.
The concert will feature a variety of selections, including songs by Brian Torff, the universityâs director of jazz and popular music program; and music of the Beatles, a favorite of the Donnellys. The couple had a number of ties to the university, which is why a scholarship being created from proceeds of the concert will benefit an FU music student. Kim Donnelly worked in the universityâs finance office for a number of years before joining her husband at Donnelly Jewelry; their son Eric and daughter both graduated from the university, and Eric has been teaching guitar at FU as an applied music teacher since his senior year (2002-03).
Tickets for the event are $50 and $100 and can be purchased through the box office at the Quick Center, or by calling 203-254-4010.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you⦠on the road.
Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.
