Albert J. Macey
Albert J. Macey, 94, of Wolcott, and formerly of Bridgeport, died peacefully in his home March 23. He was born in Bridgeport, and was a son of the late Susan (Urban) and Stephen Macey.
Survivors include two beloved daughters, Kim Macey, and her partner Patrick Kinney, of Newtown and Robin Henchcliffe, and her husband Warren, of Southbury; devoted grandson and best friend, Ray Bevis of Wolcott; three cherished great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Joseph, Stephen, John, and Frank Macey; and three sisters, Mary and Irene Macey, and Julia Goda, predeceased him.
Mr Macey was a proud World War II US Army veteran, and served in the European Theater and the Middle Eastern/African Theater. He would reminisce fondly about being deployed as a PFC with the military police in central Paris.
He was employed with Petrucci Construction for many years and Connecticut Laborers Local #65.
Mr Macey loved to spend time gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going out to eat. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and UConn sports teams. His great-grandchildren were the light of his life. Mr Macey was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose ever-present smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral Tuesday, March 29, at 9:45 am, at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by the Reverend Andrew G. Marus. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Calling hours will take place Monday, March 28, from 5 to 8 pm.
