The Working Women’s Forum, an association of local professionals and entrepreneurs, will feature Southbury Selectman Donna Pereira and a presentation entitled, “Women In Politics: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” during its next meeting.

With a presidential election approaching, and the strong possibility of a woman as a viable candidate, the presenter will question why it took so long and why there is only one woman candidate. The speaker will also discuss the benefits and drawbacks of campaigning and serving as a local elected official.

Ms Pereira received her MBA from St Louis University and has worked as an accounting and operations professional for 30 years. She served three terms on the Southbury Board of Finance, and is in her second term on the Southbury Board of Selectmen.

The meeting and talk is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, at The Villa Restaurant, 4 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.  Networking and light dinner begins at 6 pm followed by the speaker.

To register, contact WWF President Pat Marlin at rsvp@workingwomensforum.net or 203-426-7022. The program and dinner fee is $25 ($10 for WWF members), along with a cash bar.

The group also gratefully accepts canned food, personal health and beauty items for the Newtown FAITH Food Pantry brought by attendees.

Southbury Selectman Donna Pereira will share the good, the bad, and the ugly in terms of women in politics during the next Worken Women's Forum program.
