Lawrence “Larry” J. Penna, 61, of New Fairfield died unexpectedly March 18. He was the husband of 41 years to Erika (Shepherd) Penna. He was born in Danbury, July 13, 1953, to Lucille (Curti) and Anthony Penna.

His children and spouses, Marc and Sarah Penna of Shrewsbury, Mass., and David and Melinda Penna, Anthony and Jodi Penna, Lawrence and Michaela Penna, and Nicholas Penna and Joseph Penna, all of New Fairfield; his sister, Carol Turoczi of Newtown; his mother, Lucille Penna of Palm Harbor, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jack, Ella, Aidan, Carter, and Lilah; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Penna. His father, Anthony A. Penna; his brother, Kenneth Penna; and his brother-in-law, Duane Turoczi, preceded him in death.

Mr Penna started his own swimming pool company, The Pool Doctor, in 1975, which he owned for 39 years. He took an active role in the New England Spa and Pool Association (NESPA) and led the efforts to standardize licensing in Connecticut within the swimming pool industry.

He was passionate about flying small private aircraft, gardening, wine making, restoring antique cars, and his first love, playing the guitar. He was most happy when his entire family was together for holidays and celebrations.

Mr Penna was a devoted Christian and was passionate about his love for the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services took place March 23. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
