Watercolors By Dubreuil For Next SCAN Program

Diane Dubreuil of New Milford will be demonstrating in watercolor at the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) on Wednesday, March 28, at 1:30 pm. She will be painting a landscape.

This meeting is open to the public and will be held Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street, at the flagpole.

All are welcome and admission is free.

Ms Dubreuil graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in fine art and education. Following graduation, she was employed in Pittsburgh as a commercial artist.

She also met and studied watercolor painting with Frank Webb. His influence helped formulate her preference for the watercolor medium.

She moved to Connecticut, where she continued to work as a commercial artist and taught drawing and painting classes for local schools and regional arts organizations.

Ms Dubreuil has served as president of the West Hills Art League (Pittsburgh, Penn.), Nashua Art Association (Nashua, N.H.), and Housatonic Art League (New Milford). She is currently chairwoman of New Milford Commission on the Arts, having served on the commission for more than 25 years.

In 2005, Ms Dubreuil was awarded a residency with the Musee de la Grande Vigne in France and painted the landscape of Brittany en plein air. She is a signature member of i-p-a-p, the International Plein Air Painters Worldwide, a member of New England Watercolor Society, The Connecticut Plein Air Painters,  The New Hampshire Plein Air Painters, and Plein Air Painters of Maine. Most recently she was the recipient of an annual award from The Connecticut Plein Air Painters.

Her paintings can be seen in regional shows and galleries or by appointment. She maintains a website at www.ddubreuil.com
