Spring Break Drawing Class
At C.H. Booth Library
Newtown artist Suzanne Lang will return to the C.H. Booth Library during spring break to lead a workshop on Basic Drawing Techniques for students in grades 5 through 12.
Ms Lang has previously taught the Basic Drawing workshop at the library to fully enrolled classes. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, she has her bachelorâs degree and certification in art education. She also has an associateâs degree in advertising art and design. In addition to giving private and semiprivate art lessons in her home studio to students ages 4 to adult, Ms Lang teaches in the New Fairfield public schools. She is proficient in many mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, collage, printmaking, and sculpture. Ms Lang has won awards for her own watercolor work from the Richter Art Association.
Basic Drawing Techniques will take place Wednesday, April 18, from 1 to 3 pm, with a snow date of April 19, if needed. The class is limited to 15 students and is for young people of all levels of drawing ability. Students will study perspective, shading, and one-point perspective techniques, practicing before using these techniques to work on a final drawing of choice. Students may bring a photograph or picture from a magazine (no drawings or computer art please) that they would like to work from. An array of pictures will be provided for those who choose not to bring one with them.
Professional grade materials such as artist pencils, charcoal, and paper will be provided. A $5 supply fee will be charged, payable at the program.
Students must register online at www.chboothlibrary.org
