A Friend To All

She worked helping displaced persons from Estonia relocating to the United States after World War II. She married Al Vazquez in 1950, and together opened their home to many friends and family over the years, first in Dumont, N.J., then Oradell, N.J. In 1976, the family moved to Newtown. She and her husband spent every possible weekend and vacation on their sailboat.

She collected friends wherever she went, and was famous for clipping out and mailing articles to people.

Two daughters, Lee Fitzmaurice, and her husband Artie, and Kim Connolly, and her husband Brian,; and her three much-loved grandsons survive Mrs Vazquez.

Her family thanks Dr Michael Trager and his staff of Associated Physicians of Southbury for their compassion and attention to detail; her nurse, Nancy; the staff at Regional Hospice; and her many friends in Heritage Village and in Southbury who kept her fed both physically and spiritually these last few months.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Village Ambulance Association 719 Heritage Village, Southbury CT 06488. A memorial service will be held later this spring. Memories and condolences can be sent to her family at 903 A Heritage Village, Southbury CT, 06488.
