Escher String Quartet,
Guitarist Vieaux Returning
By popular demand, the Escher String Quartet with guest guitarist Jason Vieaux will be guests of Newtown Friends of Music on Sunday, April 1, at 3 pm. The concert will take place at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.
The Escher String Quartet is an ensemble that plays with great beauty of tone and supreme musicality. It takes its name from the Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher and draws inspiration from the artistâs method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole.
The members of the quartet are violinist Adam Barnett-Hart Each, violinist Wu Jie, violist Pierre Lapointe, and cellist Dane Johnsen, each of whom is immensely talented and could make it as a soloist.
Guitarist Jason Vieaux is known for virtuosic and stirring performances, imaginative programming, and uncommon communicative gifts. He has performed concertos with more than 50 major orchestras.
The April 1 program will offer works of Luigi Boccherin, Respighi, Giuliani, Vivaldi, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
Tickets are $20, and will be available at the box office one hour before the concert. Students Kâ12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Tickets may also be purchased in advance by sending check and self-addressed envelope to NFoM, PO Box 295, Newtown CT 06470-0295.
