DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, George Burch 25, of 44 Forest Drive turned himself over to police at the police station about 12:16 pm on March 19 and was charged with four offenses in connection with a motor vehicle accident in Sandy Hook last fall, police said.

Police said they charged Burch with driving under the influence, failure to have automotive insurance, failure to drive to the right on a curve, and with driving an unregistered vehicle in connection with a one-car rollover accident that occurred about 6:14 pm last November 8 near 94 Riverside Road.

Police have said that on arriving at the accident scene, they found a Honda auto lying upside down in the middle of the road. Burch apparently had been driving eastward when the vehicle crossed the road’s center line and entered the westbound lane, striking an embankment along the westbound road shoulder, causing the auto to roll over and then skid on its roof for a distance, according to police.

Following that accident, Burch was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police have said.

Following arrest processing on March 19, police released Burch on $250 bail for an April 3 court appearance.
