Anani Polchowski

37-Year Veteran Of

Bridgeport Fire Department

Anani Polchowski, 90, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Mary Byrnes Polchowski, died March 20 at St Vincent’s Medical Center.

Survivors include three devoted children, Thomas A. Polchowski and Patricia Layda, both of Newtown, and Kathleen Seaman of Wolfeboro, N.H; eight grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher Layda, Thomas, John, and Christie Polchowski, and Robert, Rebecca, and Mary Seaman; also five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Shippe, a grandson, John Shippe, Jr, and a brother, Andrew Polchowski.

A lifelong Bridgeport resident, Mr Polchowski was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II. He retired after 37 years of service with the Bridgeport Fire Department and was a member of the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, at 10 am, directly in St Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call Friday, from 4 to 8 pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory to Swim Across the Sound, c/o St Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport CT 06606.
