SOUTHBURY — As part of its Women’s History Month events, on Sunday, March 30, at 7 pm, Justice Southbury will offer the 21st in its Speaker Series of interactive Zoom conversations.

Podcaster and Newtown resident Cat DaRocha will speak about “Rewriting the Playbook: Celebrating Women’s Voices in History and Today.”

On the podcast “The Playbook: Her Edition,” DaRocha spotlights “the incredible women shaping the world of sports. Each week we bring you honest conversations with trailblazers who are breaking barriers and changing the game. From the sidelines to the C-suite, we are diving into their journeys, challenges, and triumphs in the male-dominated sports industry.”

DaRocha is a senior journalism major at Belmont University in Nashville, where she is studying to become a sports reporter. During her time at Belmont, she has worked as the executive producer for The Belmont Vision, a producer for ESPN+ broadcasts at Tennessee State University, and a sideline reporter for the Danbury Westerners baseball team.

Through her work she has maintained the goal of inspiring other women in the sports industry, sparking her passion by creating and hosting her own podcast “The Playbook: Her Edition.” Released weekly, DaRocha interviews a range of women working in various parts of the sports industry to highlight the roles women play in a male-dominated industry.

Following her graduation, she plans to pursue her master’s degree in sports communication and media on the sports broadcasting track at Sacred Heart University, putting her one step closer to achieving her dream of being an NFL sideline reporter.

Justice Southbury is a non-partisan group with a mission to cultivate an inclusive community where all are treated fairly and welcomed as equals.
