Sandy Hook’s Brighton Karvoski, a standout sophomore wrestler at Greens Farms Academy (GFA) in Westport, had a stellar season including a showing at the National Prep Wrestling Championships at Lehigh University’s Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Penn. in late February.

A two-time National Preps All-American, Karvoski went 5-3 with three pins in the 113 pound weight division. He came close with a 3-1 decision loss in the consolation semis and then lost 3-2 to take sixth overall at National Preps.

The GFA Dragons, led by Coach Jack Conroy, placed fifth overall as a team out of 134 teams across the nation with a total of ten National All-Americans.

Earlier this postseason, Karvoski earned an individual title going 5-0 and helped GFA to the team championship in the Fairfield Athletic Association. The following week, the Dragons won the Western New England Title (Eastern Division) and Karvoski again was first, posting a record of 3-0. Additionally, this was the third straight year GFA won the Preps New England overall Championship, where Karvoski was runner-up with a record of 3-1.

“For me, this season was definitely a grind in a lot of ways for sure. There were many highs and a few lows that I pushed through. With Nationals complete, I can’t wait to get back at it —tomorrow," Karvoski said.
