Look For Yourself To See Effects Of Climate Change
To the Editor:
I am compelled to write regarding last week’s letter “Chasing Windmills.”
The writer purports that climate change “is still more theory than fact” though he concedes “more than 90% of meteorologists or climate scientists believe in climate change.” If one does not have faith in the opinion of those whose lives are devoted to studying this, simply look for yourself. The warming of the planet is evident to anyone who cares to see it. Ask the farmer — or the gardener — how much the growing of crops has changed. Ask the skier how far she travels to find snow.
I simply need to remember how often my older children enjoyed playing in the snow — while my youngest by 15 years was lucky to enjoy one or two snowfalls a year. In my lifetime of 67 years in Connecticut we have gone from winter snow November through March — to tee shirts days in early March. We can bury our heads in the sand or we can address this looming crisis head-on and bequeath our children and grandchildren a livable planet.

We can only see that our daily ‘weather’ is changing. Many scientists believe that the ‘climate’ is coming to the end of the last ice age – warming. Remember in the 70s when we had harsh winters and the ‘climate scientists’ (check out. Leonard Nimoy 1978 video) were signalling a new ice age?
