Intersection Collision
About 4:54 pm on March 20, motorist Steven Malary, 62, of Monroe, who was driving a 2014 Toyota Camry sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions near the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road, police said.
Northbound motorist Brian Farrell, 38, of Southbury, who was driving a 2006 Honda Odyssey minivan northward on South Main Street, then struck the rear end of the Toyota. There were no injuries. Farrell received an infraction for following too closely.
Pair Arrested
About 4:25 pm on March 18, near 105 Toddy Hill Road, police stopped a motorist to investigate due to the presence of a suspicious marker plate.
Police charged motorist Ydelfonso Delacruz-Reynosa, 21, of West Hartford, with third-degree forgery, illegal operation of vehicle without a window-tint inspection document, driving with a suspended license, and driving without automotive insurance. Police said they charged passenger Omar Rosa, 23, of Bridgeport, with interfering with police.
After processing, each man was released on $2,000 bail for April 2 court appearances.
DUI Arrest
Police report that at about 11:12 pm on March 17, motorist Louis Savitz, 25, of Westport, was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla sedan southward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Button Shop Road, as motorist Gedesh Chea, 31, of Ansonia was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry sedan northward on Toddy Hill Road.
The Corolla then entered the opposite lane and struck the Camry. Chea was transported to a hospital for treatment of a suspected non-life threatening injury. Police arrested Savitz on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. Savitz was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 28.
Sideswiped
Motorist Alyson Nicolosi, 31, of Oxford, who was driving a 2018 Acura RDX SUV, stopped and was waiting for traffic on Interstate 84’s combined Exit 11 off-ramp at about 10:16 am on March 16, when the Acura was sideswiped by motorist Carl Jensen, 66, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck, state police said.
There were no injuries. Jensen was verbally warned for failure to maintain the lane.
Five Charges
Police report they observed an apparent motor vehicle violation at about 5:34 pm on March 16, so they stopped motorist Christian Ayala, 22, of Waterbury, to investigate near 228 South Main Street.
The stopped vehicle’s marker plate did not match that vehicle, police said. That marker plate matched a vehicle that had been stolen in Waterbury, according to police. Police said a search turned up a small amount of marijuana. Police charged Ayala with driving an unregistered vehicle, improper use of marker plates, failure to have automotive insurance, sixth-degree larceny, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.
Ayala was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 27.
DUI Incident
At about 10:01 pm on March 15, police said they spotted a vehicle traveling northward near 123 South Main Street without its headlamps illuminated, so they attempted to stop it, but the driver entered the nearby Highland Plaza and drove over some curbing.
After investigating, police charged motorist Stephen Berte, 63, of Newtown, with driving under the influence and with failure to illuminate headlamps. After processing, police released Berte on $100 bail for an April 2 court appearance.
Traffic Stop
Police report that at about 6:36 pm on March 14, they stopped motorist Tristan Smith, 18, of Monroe, near 259 South Main Street to investigate.
Police charged Smith with failure to display marker plates and with possession of a controlled substance. Smith was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 28.
Interfering
About 12:17 pm on March 13, police received a call reporting a problem near 39 Main Street, so they responded to investigate and found that a man had illegally parked near a fire hydrant.
Police report they asked motorist William Salguero, 23, of Danbury to move the vehicle, but he reused. While briefly detained, Salguero then attempted to drive away, police said. Police charged Salguero with interfering with police and also issued him an infraction for improper parking. Police released Salguero on a written promise to appear for a March 27 appearance in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
Nissan Vs Honda
On eastbound Interstate 84, roughly 2,500 feet west of Exit 10, about 4:53 pm on March 13, traffic flow slowed, and motorist Emily Clark, 21, of Cheshire, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Versa, struck the rear end of a 2016 Honda CR-V driven by Emese Gall, 49, of Middletown, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Chain Reaction
Police report a three-vehicle accident on westbound Wasserman Way, near the Exit 11 on-ramp for Interstate 84, about 7:39 am on March 7.
In that incident, motorist Brian Baker, 49, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn onto the on-ramp, as was stopped motorist Andrea Celentano, 48, of Newtown, who was driving a 2014 Audi A-6 auto behind the stopped Toyota.
Motorist Jose Colon, 49, of Newington, who was driving a commercial Ford F-650 truck, then struck the rear end of the Audi, pushing the Audi into the rear end of the Toyota. There were no injuries. Police said they took no enforcement.
School Bus
Police report a vehicular accident in Sandy Hook involving a SUV and a school bus that was carrying eight passengers amid slippery conditions at about 7:17 am on March 1. There were no injuries. The bus was carrying students ranging from ages 12 to 16, police said.
On snow-covered roadways, motorist Hillary Bree-Reps, 50, of Bethel, who was driving a 2010 Nissan Murano SUV westward on Narragansett Trail, was following a 2019 Bluebird school bus owned by All-Star Transportation, which was driven by George Dausch, 71, of Bethel.
The school bus stopped before attempting to make a left turn, and the SUV attempted to stop behind the bus, but the Nissan slid into the rear end of the bus. Police took no enforcement.
