The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host an acrylic demonstration by Frank Federico on Wednesday, March 26, beginning at 1:30 pm. The program will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

The public is invited, free of charge.

Frank Federico has attained the honorable level of signature membership of numerous prestigious art societies including Master Pastellist, Pastel Society of America, National Watercolor Society, Pastel Society of Painters on Cape Cod, and Degas Pastel Society, among others. He has received numerous awards and was selected for the Pastel Society of America Hall of Fame Honoree in 2012. He was also recipient of the PSA Founder’s Award Best in Show 2013.

Mr Federico conducts workshops domestically and abroad. He also regularly teaches at West Hartford Art League.

His paintings have been exhibited in New Orleans, Florida, California, New Mexico, across New England, Brunei, Stockholm and Tokyo, in group and solo exhibitions. His work is currently represented by three galleries: Elaine Beckwith Gallery in Jamaica, Vt.; PS Gallery in Litchfield, and Gregory James Gallery in New Milford. He is represented in the permanent collection of the Butler Museum in Youngston, Ohio.

Mr Federico considers himself to be a colorist and a contemporary impressionist. He looks for the essence in a landscape or a figure, while applying emotional and aesthetically crafted content.

“I believe that art is as capricious as nature’s own whims,” said Mr Federico. “It is as permanent as the endless striving for universal harmony, but in a constant flux. My technique is varied with mood and empathy for the subject matter or motif. Nature provides the catalyst – human or otherwise – with this constant flux of rhythms, shapes and boundless energy.  Each painting speaks for itself and has a life of its own. I am the stoker of the energy, the catalyzer.”

Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654.
