Robert John Gotthardt, Sr, 68, of Danbury, died March 15 at his home. He was the husband of the late Carol Nichols Gotthardt. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., July 2, 1939, son of William Frances and Lillian Elizabeth Ahrlich Gotthardt.

He is survived by three sons, Dan Gotthardt and his wife, Cheryl, of Newtown, Robert J. Gotthardt, Jr, and his wife, Suzanne, of Wilmington, N.C., and Mark A. Gotthardt, Sr, and his wife, Sandra, of Danbury; a daughter, Melissa J. Hope and her husband, Gerald, of Danbury; a brother, William Gotthardt, Jr, and his wife, Winifred, of Danbury; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Nick, Keith, Cody, Anthony, Mark Jr, and Justin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He moved to Danbury at a young age and married in 1958. Mr Gotthardt was a truck driver, first working for Dosch King and later for 42 years at Norbert E. Mitchell until his retirement.

Burial in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield, will be at the convenience of the family.
