‘Magic Moments’ Features Fine Wines,

Nationally Known Comedians

Get out and have some fun Sunday, March 30, at the Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, and help benefit the Trumbull-based Kennedy Center, which has an operation here in Newtown. Magic Moments, a popular fundraiser for the Kennedy Center’s Autism Project, begins with a wine tasting at 4 pm featuring a high-end selection of wines and champagne provided courtesy of Moet Henry USA.

In addition, wine experts from Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market of Fairfield will host the wine tasting.

The main event follows at 5 pm with cocktails, sumptuous food prepared by Celebrations by Carlson, and a silent auction. A live auction will feature a getaway trip to the Calistoga Ranch Resort and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa in California wine country and other prizes.

As an added touch, background music will be played by The Trade with band members Bill Carleton on vocals/guitar and Tony Parlapiano on keyboard.

Performances by nationally known comedians Johnny Lampert and Bari Alyse will provide the grand finale to the evening with loads of laughter. Mr Lampert is considered one of the premier comedians in the country.

A Fairfield resident, Ms Alyse has produced and written for many television shows in New York City and Los Angeles and has performed standup in clubs throughout the country. She has appeared in commercials and films and on MTV and Comedy Central.

Proceeds benefit the Kennedy Center’s new Autism Project and coincides with the start of National Autism Awareness Month in April. The Autism Project offers services for children, adolescents, and young adults plus supports for their families.

Martin D Schwartz, president and CEO of the Kennedy Center, said the organization has always served children and young adults with autism.

“But we have made a major commitment to expand these services to local families. Two years ago we started a dedicated program that will aid clients and their families with transition planning, community activity supports, financial assistance, information, referral and support; advocacy and development of new services,” he said.

Call the Kennedy Center at 203-365-8522, extension 229, for ticket information or go to its website, www.thekennedycenterinc.org. Tickets start at $125 per person for the main event and are $200 per person with the wine tasting reception.
