Connecticutâs Beardsley Zoo Recruiting New Volunteers
BRIDGEPORT â Connecticutâs Beardsley Zoo is planning its semiannual adult volunteer training class for new Zoo Friends and Zoo Gardeners.
Prospective volunteers must contact volunteer coordinator Tracy Benham prior to March 28 to arrange an interview. She can be reached at 203-330- 6046.
A $15 fee for training materials and dues is required, and a minimum of six volunteer hours per month is requested.
Zoo Friends help run the zooâs many special events, assist in presenting education programs, support the animal care staff, and work on administrative tasks, among other assignments. Zoo Gardeners work in the Victorian Greenhouse, help maintain flower and herb beds on zoo grounds, and may assist with exhibit landscaping.
Connecticutâs Beardsley Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). With more than 200 accredited members, AZA is a leader in global wildlife conservation and a human link to helping animals in their native habitats
