She began her career as casting director in the New York theater of Rodgers and Hammerstein where she cast South Pacific. Interested in the industry, she moved to MGM Studios, New York, as its East Coast talent scout from 1951 to 1954. In 1963 she returned to the theater and became the casting director for Hal Prince Productions. She then opened her own agency, launching the careers of Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise.
She has been awarded a Rockefeller Fellowship, the Smith College Medal, and the Hoyt Bowers Award for outstanding casting director in 1991.
She is a nominating member of the Tony Awards and a voting member of the Academy Awards (Oscars). Ms Krohn lived in Newtown during the 1980s and 1990s and was a member of the Friends of the Booth Library.
