Rotarians Enjoy St Patrick Night

Newtown Rotarians enjoyed an evening of entertainment at their regular meeting on St Patrick’s Day. Rotarian Eileen Fish planned the special events; her son Bradley Fish told the story of the Blarney Stone.

Rotarian Alan Clavette arranged for four 11- and 12-year-old dancers from the Gray School of Irish Dance to perform in costume a number of Irish dances. The Rotarians were then entertained by the singing of Peggy O’Neil Murphy and guitarist Larry Gardner, a Rotarian, of several Irish songs, including “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling” and “Danny Boy.”

The entertainment was followed by a meal of corned beef and cabbage, leaving the group feeling very full and very Irish. Anyone interested in learning more about the Rotary and its service projects worldwide is urged to attend one of the Monday evening meetings at the Fireside Inn at 6 pm or contact Duane Baumert at 426-8895.
