Peace Has NeverRemoved Tyrants
Peace Has Never
Removed Tyrants
To the Editor:
I am writing in response to a letter sent to the editor in The Beeâs March 7 edition, âSimilarities to History,â where the author stated that she sees similarities between George W. Bush and his cronies and Adolf Hitler and his cronies and to âthink about it.â First of all, the only thing I thought about was how this statement was rather short in length, substance, and lacked any real facts or similarities to back it up. Has anyone seen President Bush and his âcroniesâ building concentration camps or invading France, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and Russian in recent days?? Secondly, the only similarity that enters my mind when reading this letter was that it is strikingly reminiscent of the nonsense that is currently pouring our of anti-war, anti-Bush Hollywood. Yes, they are entitled to their opinions, however this is the same Hollywood gang that was mysteriously silent during the 1999 war in Yugoslovia to stop Slobodon Milosevic and his henchmen from killing ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. This war, as most of your know, was prosecuted under a politically different administration. But hey, according to one Hollywood actress, âIt just wasnât hip to criticize Clintonâs wars.â I wish they would explain their inconsistencies better than that.
Hearing this type of rhetorical statement and other insults aimed at the commander-in-chief leads me to believe that Ms Kokoszka is just another individual who truly despises President Bush and his ideology more than she fears Saddam Hussein and his 8,500 liters of unaccounted for anthrax and other assorted WMDs [weapons of mass destruction]. 8,500 liters of anthrax which Iraq cannot account for, a fact that has been verified by UNMOVIC. This amount of anthrax is enough to kill millions of Americans if it were to be properly dispersed. A horrible scenario, which would make the attacks of September 11 look miniscule.
No one likes or wants war. However, I believe President Bush when he says that he has the moral responsibility as commander-in-chief in protecting the American people from another terrorist attack. As long as Saddam Hussein, his two thug sons, and the rest of his brutal and murderous regime have the capacity to pass along anthrax or smallpox to a terrorist network, the I believe that he must be removed from power. The only thing that will stop Saddam and these terrorists is their complete destruction and I strongly doubt the UN can accomplish this through diplomatic measures. In my opinion, peace has never removed brutal tyrants. So if it takes military action to extract this low-life dictator and his al-Qaida chums around the globe, then I too (along with James Swift, Linda Villafano and tens of millions of other Americans) wholeheartedly support our troops, President Bush, and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for their courageous stance. By the time this letter is printed, our troops may already be in harmâs way. So let us pray for their successful mission and safe return. God Bless America!
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Sorrentino
