Not Going To Take It Anymore
Not Going To Take It Anymore
To the Editor:
After reading the front page of The Newtown Bee and seeing a quote about âsuch a minimal tax saving,â well guess what ââ people on Social Security got slightly more than a one percent increase in their benefits for 2003 which the town wants to gobble up with the bottomless pit called the school budget. Then I read where the Parks & Rec wants to consider a skate park. Might I suggest, that the parents of the skateboarders have a fundraiser to build this, rather than taking it out of the taxpayers pockets, and whoâs going to be stuck with the liability insurance ââ the taxpayers?
Let âNT-1â drive the streets in southern Newtown and see the deplorable condition that they are in ââ then again, it might get swallowed up in one of the giant potholes ââ drive on Blue Spruce, Bayberry, Lantern, Pastors Walk and I can guarantee it will loosen the fillings in your teeth ââ thatâs where some of the taxpayers bucks should be going ââ fixing the roads in front of the houses where people are paying the taxes.
Maybe this year, the seniors might just start turning down the budget like Monroe did last year and send a message to the people running Newtown âthat weâre not going to take it anymore.â
Sincerely,
Arthur W. Hechler
