James J. Boylan
James J. Boylan
James Joseph Boylan, 60, of Newtown, died March 14 after a valiant fight against lung cancer.
Born on February 14, 1943, in Jackson Heights, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Dorothy Boylan, Jim was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep, Fordham University Class of 1964, and the University of Buffalo where he received his MBA in 1965. His insatiable desire to travel was fulfilled in his careers at GTE International and Unimar in Wilton.
Residing in Connecticut for the past 30 years, he was an active member of the community. In his retirement, he was an elected member of the Newtown Planning and Zoning Commission since 1997 and a member of the Republican Town Committee. He was an avid stamp collector and, most of all, he loved working around the house. His home provided constant joy as he spread his love and handiwork in every corner, where his presence will remain for years to come.
Jimâs time on Earth was spent in dedication to his loving family.
Jim is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Katherine (Ackert) Boylan, and daughters, Katherine and Jennifer Boylan of Newtown. He will be greatly missed by his beloved mother-in-law, Katherine Ackert-McNutt of Heritage Village, Southbury; sister, Mary Nellie Licause of New York; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marcella and John Specce of Oyster Bay, N.Y., Judith and Aldo Orlando of College Point, N.Y., George and Carol Ackert of Plano, Tex.; two nieces; six nephews; future son-in-law, Craig Bocaccio; and many more family and friends who will forever miss his quick wit and smile.
A Mass of Christian Memorial was held at St Peter Church, Danbury, on March 18.
Donations in his memory may be made to Newtown Hook and Ladder, PO Box 344, Newtown, CT 06470, and the Danbury Visiting Nurses Association, 4 Liberty Street, Danbury CT 06810.
