Fire Grants Now Available

BOSTON, MASS. –– The US Fire Administration (USFA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the 2003 Assistance to Firefighters Grand Program application period has begun.

Last year approximately $14 million was awarded to fire departments in Connecticut and other New England states. The application process closes at 5 pm on April 11.

FEMA Regional Director Daniel A. Craig encouraged fire departments to submit applications to any of the four eligible programs: The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program; the Fire Prevention Program; Emergency Medical Services Program, and the Firefighting Vehicles Acquisition Program.

The grant application is available online at www.usfa.fema.gov. There also is a help desk at 866-274-0960 to assist with the application process. The help desk is staffed from 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday and 8 to 4:30 pm on Sunday.
