Vocational Training Award Program Applications

Now Accepted

The Weller Foundation, Incorporated, formally The Vitramon Foundation, has announced that full-time senior students from Newtown, Joel Barlow, Masuk, Shelton, and Trumbull High School may now submit applications for this year’s Vincent Voccia Vocational Award.

The award is named for a trustee of The Vitramon Foundation, Incorporated. The Voccia Award will provide financial assistance to one student from each of the five high schools who has selected a vocational-technical career and will shortly enter vocational training.

The award recipients will be eligible for a grant equal to the lesser of $2,500 or 50 percent of the tuition cost of the vocational program proposed.

Applicants must be full-time students at one of the five high schools, and must not be a relative of a trustee of The Weller Foundation. Applicants must also be a US citizen or permanent resident. The applicant shall demonstrate interest and talent in his or her chosen field, and must be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the school selected. Any qualified student who submits an application will be considered for the award.

Applications must be received by March 25 at their respective high school guidance department. A minimum of three qualified applications is necessary for each high school to select one award recipient. The award recipient will be announced on or about April 6.

More information about the award can be obtained from the high schools’ guidance department.
