Grow Your Own Food

BETHEL — The Fairfield County Extension Center will host “Grow Your Own: a workshop for people interested in healthy living,” on Saturday, March 28. A series of workshops will run from 9 am to 4 pm at the Extension Center, 67 Stony Hill Road. Fee is $25, which includes lunch ($15 FCEC members).

Workshops, to be led by professional farmers, will cover soil, pH and soil amendments; building a root cellar; growing herbs; raising goats for milk and cheese; seeds and the planting calendar; raised beds and growing organically; raising chickens; incorporating food into the landscape; fencing for plants and animals; keeping bees; growing fruit trees; and making mulch.

Lunch will include homemade soup, salad, bread, dessert and beverages. Reservations are requested; call 240-2295.
