Richard H. Allaire passed peacefully into eternal life on March 14 at the age of 91.

He was the beloved husband of Mary, proud father of Kenneth (dec) and Jon, loving grandfather to Kencito (dec), Magdiel and Henry. Richard also leaves behind a sister Carol and brothers Bob, Paul and Howard (Bud). His sister Karen predeceased him. Richard was always a kind and helpful mentor to his stepsons Anthony and Stephen.

Richard served with honor in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Fordham University and taught English in the New York City School system for many years.

His favorite pastimes were bird watching and ballroom dancing (a love he shared with his wife Mary). But paramount was his love for his Catholic faith. His greatest sorrow was that he could no longer fully participate in the Easter Vigil nor act as a lector at 7:30 Mass at St Rose of Lima Church due to increased frailty.

His family would like to thank the staff at Stone Bridge Rehab in Newtown for the care they gave Richard during his final days.

In Richard’s honor please contribute to your favorite charity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, at 11 am Saturday, March 22. Inurnment will follow at St Rose Cemetery Columbarium. Friends may call at St Rose of Lima Church on Saturday, March 22, from 10 to 11 am

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is in charge of arrangements.
