Diabetes Prevention Program — This YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program may reduce the chances of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent overall by providing tools for living a happier and healthier life. Androids 101 — A two-class course, starting March 25, for a fee of $59. If new to using the Android operating system — on devices made by Samsung, Nexus, Asus, Lenovo, and others — the course will teacher how to secure a device, safely install applications, how to manage applications, control data usage, cloud storage, and adding books, movies, music, and more to the device. The course is BYOD — bring your own device, like a tablet or phone.

LinkedIn For Business — A one-class course being offered on March 24 for a fee of $39. Learn specific techniques and strategies on how to leverage LinkedIn to build business relationships and maximize the site’s capabilities. Learn how to connect with prospects; create an SEO (search engine optimization) profile so that you can be found; utilize group members and discussions; create a strong network of professionals; and develop LinkedIn marketing plans for individuals and sales teams that drive business and ultimately revenue. Students should set up their LinkedIn account before attending class.

Reverse Mortgages: Separating Fact From Fiction — A one-class course on March 31 for a fee of $29. Students will learn about reverse mortgages by being exposed to four myths around reverse mortgages. The course will focus on how reverse mortgages are different from standard home equity loans, why are reverse mortgages are recently so popular, and how to select a reverse mortgage lender. This course will provide in-depth information for those considering reverse mortgages for themselves or others.

Social Security Strategies For Women — A one-class course on March 25 for a fee of $29. This class is for every woman facing the future challenges of applying for Social Security benefits. There will be a thorough review of the Social Security program, and how it favors women (married, divorced, or widowed.) The class will discuss the top five mistakes most women make when filing for benefits.

The Importance of Wills And Life Planning Documents — A one-class course on March 25 for a fee of $29. Students will learn about the terms Living Will, Power of Attorney (POA), Health Care Directive & Proxy, DNR, and more.

Take Better Pictures By Understanding Composition — A one-class course on March 31 for a fee of $39. Learn the basics of composition to add the “wow” factor to photos. Students are asked to bring their own camera, manual, and five to ten pictures on a flash drive.

Ballroom Dancing — A four-class course being offered in two sessions, each for $99 for a couple. One session starts on April 2 and one session starts on May 7. Learn the fox trot, waltz, cha-cha and more. Instructors Joe Williams and Noni Low have been dancing together for 21 years and teaching ballroom dance for beginners to advanced for 15 years. Their basic concept of ballroom dancing consists of having fun with easy to learn instructions. Couples and singles welcome.

Discover The Healing Power of Foods — A one-class course on March 25 for a fee of $29. Learn how food can influence health, the aging process, and the immune system. Dr Elena Sokolova will discuss the most chemically contaminated foods. Students will also learn about the “Dirty Dozen,” which foods are anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic foods. Students will learn how avoid the top five toxic foods that may be on their plate, and will discover how to create their very own “fountain of youth” with the right food choices.

Navigating The College Admissions Journey — A two-class course starting on April 2 for a fee of $49. No matter where the students wants to go to college, this two-night course will teach them strategies to help improve the chances of admission, saving money, and avoiding the most common mistakes. The first class will focus on the college search, essays, activities, and interviews. The second class will focus on college costs, financial aid, scholarships, and how to graduate without excessive debt. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend the course together. The instructor is a former admission counselor with 15 years of experience with working with college-bound high school students.

Getting Paid To Talk, An Introduction To Professional Voice-Acting — A one class course on March 30 for a fee of $39. From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class will introduce students to the growing field of voiceover. Learn what the pros look for, how to prepare, and where to find work. The class will discuss industry pros and cons and play samples from working voice professionals. In addition, students will have an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of the teacher.
