Shauna Shane At SCAN

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present a demonstration by Shauna Shane on Wednesday, March 24, at 1:30 pm. The program will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) in Newtown. Ms Shane will be painting an interior scene in pastel.

Ms Shane has been painting professionally for 30 years and is facile in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel and watercolor. She is a former resident artist at Yellowstone National Park and more recently, The New Britain Museum of American Art.

She is a signature member of CT Pastel Society, and an elected member of Lyme Art Association and CT Plein Air Painters Society. Recent awards were received in the Slater Museum Exhibit 2010 and the Renaissance Pastel exhibit in Connecticut.

Ms Shane teaches at West Hartford Art League, Glastonbury Art Guild, and Community School of the Arts at UConn.

Ms Shane’s work is saturated with light and color informed by many years of painting from life. Her paintings of the still life and the figure reflect a solid academic training as well as the ability to communicate the energy, color, and unique atmosphere of a scene.

There is no charge to attend SCAN programs and reservations are not needed. Additional information is available from Ruth Newquist at 203-426-6654.
