Compassionate And Loving
Christina B. âChrissieâ Schefkind, 92, widow of Aaron B. Schefkind, died peacefully, March 15, at Masonicare of Newtown, after a long battle with Alzheimerâs. Born on August 7, 1917, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Anna and Pasquale Mainiero.
She is survived by her daughters Joyce Neri and her husband, Anthony, of Newtown and Judith Gross and her husband, the Reverend Mark Gross, of Oxford; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those who knew and loved Mrs Schefkind will always think of her as a perfect lady â soft spoken, sensitive, and compassionate, and deeply devoted to her family and friends. Whether it was working by the side of her husband as an administrative assistant at the University School in Bridgeport, busily involved as Worthy Matron of the Temple Link, a member of Hadassah, or a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Mrs Schefkind always found time to help anyone who needed her assistance. An avid gardener and skilled seamstress who enjoyed travel, music, and animals, she will be remembered best as a superb cook.
Funeral services were March 18. Interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brookfield Hospice, 777 Federal Road, Brookfield CTÂ 06804.
