The Newtown Chamber of Commerce and the Newtown Rotary Club will co-host the seventh Annual Business of the Year Awards on Monday, March 22, at the Inn at Newtown, 19 Main Street, from 6 to 8 pm.
This recognition program acknowledges two companies that make considerable contributions to the community. In addition to receiving a trophy, award recipients will be invited to make a donation to a charity or organization of their choice, which will be matched by the Newtown Rotary Club.
Two awards will be presented: the first represents companies operating with 25 or fewer employees, and the second represents companies operating with more than 25 employees. Last year, Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor was honored in Category One and Bulk Materials International was honored for Category Two.
Over the past month, residents and business owners have had the opportunity to nominate local businesses who contribute to the community and deserve to be recognized. Nominations were reviewed by the awards committee which is comprises representatives from both the Newtown Chamber and Rotary Club. The committee includes Pat Kelley of Newtown Savings Bank, Larry Gardner of The Alternative Board, Sharon Maynard of Savings Bank of Danbury, and Pat Linnell of Linnell Real Estate.
For more details or to make reservations to the awards ceremony, call the Newtown Chamber of Commerce business office at 203-426-2695. Tickets are $25 and include dinner.
