Rosemary Trudell
Rosemary Ann Trudell, 88, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was the loving wife of 60 years to George Trudell, who predeceased her in 2019.
Rosemary was born on December 14, 1935, in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Fredrick and Rose Capozzi. She graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1954. She met George, the love of her life, and they married on May 30, 1959. They started a family and moved to Newtown in 1968, where they lived for the next 56 years.
One of Rosemary’s passions was being a teacher’s aide at Hawley Elementary School for over 30 years, where she specialized in teaching challenged children how to read. Her love of children prompted her to create a Toy Drive for underprivileged children in Newtown with her two granddaughters, Julia and Haley.
Rosemary enjoyed spending her summers with family and friends at their home in Cape Cod. She also loved cooking, playing cards with her friends, reading, needlepoint, puzzles, and aerobics.
Her greatest joy was her family. Rosemary was known to family and friends as a positive, supportive generous person full of love and happiness. She was a doting, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Rosemary is survived by her children who will miss her terribly, daughter Dana Manzi of Woodbury, son-in-law Ray Manzi of Woodbury, and her son George and his wife Leslie Trudell of Newtown; grandchildren Craig Manzi, Christopher Manzi and his wife Stephanie, Trey Trudell, Julia Trudell and her fiancé Alex Gonzales, and Haley Trudell; and great-grandchildren Liv and Charlie Manzi. She is also survived by her sister Shirley “Sis” Mallory, with whom she shared a special bond, not only as sisters but as best friends. Rosemary will also be missed by her sister-in-law MaryLou Trudell and nieces and nephews William Mallory and Kathy Mallory Hughes and her husband David, and Brianna Trudell Lybarger and her husband Ryan.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Rosemary’s life at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road in Newtown, on Thursday, March 21, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rosemary’s memory to Regional Hospice of Danbury, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury CT 06810.
