Volunteers Needed For Major Summer Event-NCAC Announces 'Arts Festival 2012'
Volunteers Needed For Major Summer Eventâ
NCAC Announces
âArts Festival 2012â
To fulfill its mission to promote Newtownâs many organizations and residents involved in the arts, the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) has begun planning what will be a town-wide arts festival in the summer of 2012. Volunteers are sought to join in the preparation and implementation of what NCAC hopes will become an annual event. Many different committees and activities need chairs and participants who would like to lend their support.Â
Newtown Arts Festival 2012, which will be held on a weekend in August or September (TBA), will highlight the work of local artists, artisans and organizations through art and craft sales, live music, theatrical performances, literary readings, exhibits, and food concessions. The goal is to build on Newtownâs numerous accomplished individual artists and townwide cooperative efforts that created the Tercentennial festival in 2005.
The Newtown Arts Festival 2012 planning group, under the direction of NCAC Secretary Donna Mangiafico, meets monthly and includes the following subcommittees: Management, Logistics, Advertising, Art Contest, Volunteers, Education and Entertainment.
Meeting dates are published on the Arts Calendar at NewtownArtsCommission.org.
The commission âis very excited to establish this annual community arts and educational experience to spotlight the many unique attributes of Newtown life and its abundance of talented artists and arts/community organizations,â said NCAC Chair Jennifer Johnston. âWe hope that we get many arts supporters to join us plan this special weekend for everyone to enjoy.â
