Rah-Rah — NHS Cheers To Third In State

Newtown High School’s cheerleading team places third in the Class LL State Championship at New Haven City Wide Field House on March 12.

Newtown scored 138.5 points to edge out fourth-place East Hartford (137). Danbury (with 162) and Fairfield Ludlowe (155.5) placed one-two among 14 teams.

This marked the first time in 21 years that Newtown placed in the state competition, said Head Coach Susan Bridges, who is assisted by Maura McDada. The team will competed in the Regional Competition March 19 at the Pinkerton Career and Technical Academy in Providence, RI.
