Goalie Picked For New England County Cup

Newtown’s Markus Paltauf has been selected as one of only 17 players in his age group to represent the state of Connecticut in an upcoming AAA youth hockey tournament, The New England County Cup (NECC). After going through the tryout process in Cromwell and Northford, he was picked to be one of two goalies who will play for Team Connecticut.

The NECC is a high-end AAA youth hockey tournament that will be played in Foxboro, Mass from April 28 through May 1. Last year, the competition included teams from Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and Massachusetts.

Paltauf  recently moved to Newtown from Brookfield and is enjoying his first year at Hawley School. He has been skating since he was three years old and has played for Northwestern over the past three years, as well as at the Danbury Ice Rink in some spring leagues. This past season, he has been the goalie for the Northwestern Icehawks Mite A team  The Icehawks’ home rinks are at the Canterbury School in New Milford and The Gunnery in Washington Depot.
